Repetition

Repetition.

When paying down debts or decluttering, a little repetition goes a long ways.

For debt, you must choose (over and over again) to be frugal.  You must decide to do differently than you have in the past with your finances and take a different strategy.  This involves denying yourself little treasures along the way (again and again) so you can get to the bigger treasure of being in the clear (and sleeping well at night).

For decluttering, repetition works as well.  Likely one purge won't get you to The Essential.  Instead, going through your belongings again and again will get you to the perfect level of stuff.

Choosing again and again to not bring new trinkets or baubles into your home will help get you to the goal of a perfectly decluttered home.   The choice to abstain from consumerism will have to be played out over and over to make a noticeable difference.

As devoid of fun as that all sounds it will be a huge payoff in the end as you enjoy the fruits of your repetition.  You will be able to dream differently.  You will be able to do differently.

Repetition can make all the difference.
