The Bricks of Life

What are you building your life with these days?

I found something very curious in my journey with minimalism.  At some point, the exterior is dealt with and the focus for decluttering goes to the interior.  Attitudes and habits come under scrutiny and the excess is done away with through a process of forming new habits and retraining the mind.

For me, one of the things to go was procrastination.  This was gradual, but such a game changer.  Dealing with things instead of burying my head in the sand has been a huge help in making me more efficient and powerful in my daily life.

Another habit that I cultivate is faithfulness.  Doing something when you say you will goes a long way to build trust in your personal and business relationships.  That trust is one of the most precious and fragile things you will ever own.  It is very important to take care of your relationships in life.

Money habits go without saying.  Making budgeting a daily event (mainly the posting of receipts) keeps it from being a dreaded chore at the end of the month.  Knowing where I am at financially helps me anticipate my future needs and possibilities and helps me sleep better at night.

Sharing and gratitude are powerful.  Very, very powerful.  Gratitude can help abate cravings for more.  If you are content, you are not craving something you don't have.  Sharing provides the route for you to truly keep your wealth.  As a wise Roman once said, "The wealth you keep is the wealth you give away."

Beautiful things can happen when the focus goes inside.  Simplify your exterior and your interior for a totally transformed you!
