Decluttering Home and Soul



"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

That is Philippians 4:8 from the NIV version of the Bible.  Most of us reading this blog have heard this verse said or have seen it in print at some time.  But, did you realize that it is about minimizing?

It gives criteria of what to think inside your head.  It is a blueprint of what to keep in your mind.  Everything else that enters your thoughts, that does not fit this criteria, is best downsized.  

There are two criteria that are well known to the minimalism community that help guide what to keep inside the home.  That is: whatever is useful and/or beautiful to you.  

And, if you think about it - if you have downsized your home using that criteria, and downsized your thoughts using Philippians 4:8, what a beautiful world you would be in, indeed!  Your thoughts and surroundings would be full of excellence.  You would have kept what is beautiful and important.  

Kudos to my dear friend and sister in the Lord for pointing out this truth to me.  I am ready to downsize my Great Interior!
