Grow Around

When you can't go through, grow around.

There are so many new obstacles to normalcy since the pandemic came to visit us.  Avenues that were once so broad, widely-traveled and clear are now closed.  The way we work, play, and do the necessities of life are changed and more complex.

It is normal to be frustrated and mourn the passing of our normalcy.  It is healthy to grieve our losses. But, we need to move.  We need to grow...around.

If we wait for perfect weather, we will never plant.  If we never plant, things and opportunities will never grow.  If the growing season is not permitted, then there will be no harvest.  We must learn to grow around and thrive in adverse conditions.

Use your creativity and resourcefulness to find workarounds.  The boom in telecommuting and Zoom as a way of connecting with now-distant friends and families is a cardinal example.  Grow around the problem that refuses to remove itself.

If your budget isn't working anymore, retool it.  You may have to think outside the box to find balance again.  You may have to embrace that your finances are changed.  Look for new opportunities, take a chance and sell something needed and different than you ever have done before. I assure you, I am in the process of doing exactly that with my business, and I am planning and strategizing on how to expand my services to do more and reach more niches.

The creative, flexible, and adaptable will likely thrive better than the rigid in this new environment.  Bend, don't break.  Think of this as school and as a game.  Don't let your anxiety paralyze you.  Keep growing, and grow around your problems.
